JC has been a part of our walking basketball sessions since they started in October 2021. She played basketball earlier in her life and said: "I do look forward to our Monday training sessions very much, not only to play basketball but to meet up with the great team of people that walking basketball has brought together."

Walking basketball is a slower paced/less strenuous walking version of the standard game of basketball. It's ideal for those who still want to enjoy this recreational activity in a fun and informal setting as well as those keen to learn a new sport or skill at a gentler pace. And of course, all whilst having fun, making friends and forming a community.
The team are really keen to welcome more to join them and take them 'under their wing'. They love sharing their fitness boosting sport with like minded individuals who find themselves free on a Monday lunch time and are looking to socialise, exercise and learn.
No previous experience required, many transferable skills from other sports like netball, rugby, football are positive to bring with you - even if you enjoy a tactical game of chess, this sport has that side to it too. All equipment is provided. Come along alone or with friends.
Just turn up in comfortable footwear and clothing, bring a drink and be ready to have fun with the super friendly bunch of walking basketballers! You'll have a warm up, a skills section and a short game, followed by a stretch/warm down.
SH has been part of the sessions since 2021 having never played before. SH said: "It is more gentle than you think it is, it's dry and indoors! You get a real buzz from walking basketball... give it a go, it's really inclusive and accessible."
Learn new skills, perfect established skills, it's a safe place to meet new people and make friends in a stress free environment and it's a really successful activity for those 50 plus, those who have been inactive for a long period of time, those looking for rehabilitation and gentle exercise and of course for those who still have a bit of Larry Bird, Bill Russel or even Michael Jordan in their hearts.
